Holy Family Chapel, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet
EverGreene developed a decorative painting scheme that complemented the existing historic stenciling and the colors of the altars, stained glass, and woodwork. The design process involved study of archival photographs, development of color proposals by EverGreene artists, review of alternatives by the client, and the fine-tuning of tonalities onsite by decorative painters during the preparation of a full-scale mock-up sample. EverGreene technicians performed plaster repair and surface preparation, as well as cleaning the marble altarpiece and statuary. After careful examination, it was determined that two chancel murals (both copies of Old Masters) were too damaged for conservation, so high-quality replication with durable materials was chosen by the project team as a more practical alternative.
