Illinois State Capitol, Rotunda & Corridors
After extensive forensic studies and design, EverGreene restored the historic decorative scheme and plaster in the rotunda and public corridors of the Illinois State Capitol. The decorative painting included hand-painted work, faux marbre, stenciling, lining, glazing, and gilding. Mural conservation included the 42-foot-high Treaty With The Indians by Gustav Fuchs, three murals by Robert Grafton, and four upper alcove murals in the main rotunda. EverGreene also restored the overpainted marble columns. Contracting directly with the Illinois State Office of the Architect of the Capitol, EverGreene has performed restoration work throughout the building over the course of several years and multiple phases.
