Stenciling is a traditional, decorative technique of applying a pattern, design, or text to a surface, using a stencil template. The template consists of a thin sheet of cardboard, metal, or other material from which shapes or letters have been cut out. A coloring substance, such as paint, ink, or pigment is then applied over the sheet onto the surface. Complex stencil patterns can be created by layering multiple patterns and colors, and the same technique can be used to create patterns or lettering in metallic leaf.
Our expertise is informed by a technical and artistic understanding of pattern and letter spacing and scaling to fit proportionally within a range and configuration.
