301 E 80th Street—Private
The building at 301 E 80th street is one of two new luxury condo developments constructed along 8oth and 81st streets in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan; Beckford Tower being located on 80th street and Beckford House being located on 81st street. The pair were designed by William Sofield and his architecture firm Studio Sofield, who is a contemporary architect known for his wide-ranging projects that include private residences, luxury high-rises, and fashion boutiques. Sofield was particularly focused on ensuring the buildings fit into the aesthetic of the Upper East Side; tying the brownstone, limestone, and custom brick color and visual schemes of neighboring buildings into his own.
EverGreene was contracted by CM & Associates Construction Management, LLC to apply specialty finishes to several spaces within 301 E. 80th Street. Such spaces included the main lobby walls, ceiling, and dome, including the main area, vestibule, concierge desk, reception area, and amenity spaces; several cellar rooms, including the powder rooms and game room walls and ceilings; and sub-cellar spaces, including changing rooms, and various athletic facilities’ walls and ceilings. EverGreene staff first made samples of several different Venetian plaster finishes on Masonite boards for the client’s approval. In addition to the Venetian plaster, hand rubbed lacquered plaster, chalk plaster effects, and some gold leaf accents were also used.
