Every March for seven days, the industry unites in celebration of National Women in Construction to highlight women in construction and to raise awareness of the growing impact women have on the industry, as well as the myriad of opportunities available to them, either in the field or in the office.
Currently 30% of EverGreene’s workforce is comprised of women. As of January 2019, national rankings show that women make up 9.1% of the construction industry, so our strides are helping to narrow the gap. To show our support, members of our Marketing and Human Resources team attended the New York Build Expo at Javits Center, held March 3-4, 2020. Our Marketing Leader Katherine DeMercurio served as an Ambassador for Women in Construction, as part of the expo’s mission to ensure that businesses within the construction industry, and the people leading them, have every opportunity to thrive. Additionally, our team listened in on a WIC panel featuring speakers from SOM, Turner Construction, FXCollaborative, STV and AECOM.
