Brooklyn Public Library
The Brooklyn Public Library is the public library system of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is the sixteenth largest public library system in the United States by holding and the seventh by number of visitors.
Our conservators collaborated with Gilbane Building Company to survey the existing wood paneled walls in the entrance lobby, main lobby, ancillary hallways, and balcony of the Central Library branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza. In 2019, the team conducted visual survey, completed photo documentation, and took field measurements.
The wood paneled walls appear to be in fair to good condition with general wear and tear associated with an 80-year old active library. Based on conditions, a comprehensive cleaning, repair, and refinishing scope has been recommended by our team.
