Calvary Funeral Home Portraits
Calvary Cemetery, located in Citrus Heights, California, was originally established and dedicated by Bishop Robert Armstrong in 1953 to serve the greater Sacramento area’s Catholic and Christian communities. It is currently the second-largest Catholic Cemetery of the Diocese of Sacramento, featuring more than 40 acres of property, with over 14,000 people having been laid to rest there.
EverGreene worked with Jackson Construction and the Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services of the Diocese of Sacramento to design and fabricate six large, hand-painted portraits for the walls of the new chapel at the Calvary Funeral Home. EverGreene previously worked with both Jackson Construction and the Catholic Funeral and Cemetery services, creating a similar series of murals St. Mary’s Funeral Hall in Sacramento. Subjects of the portraits include Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Juan Diego, St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. Joseph, St. Rose of Lima, St. Lorenzo Ruiz. The portraits were hand-painted in our Brooklyn-based Design Studio and transported to site for installation by EverGreene craftspeople.
