Chrysler Building - Ceiling Mural
New York, NY
EverGreene was contracted to restore Edward Trumball’s historic 100 x 76’ 1930 ceiling mural, Transport and Human Endeavor, in the iconic New York City Chrysler Building lobby. Work included removing varnishes, polyurethane, and overpaint, repair and inpainting of damaged areas. During the restoration process, EverGreene removed 24 recessed light fixtures that had been added into the plaster ceiling mural in the 1970s. The holes were filled and re-plastered, and carefully painted to fill in the missing parts of the surrounding mural.
