Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption

Our team completed a restoration project at the historic Basilica Cathedral of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky. This project involved the reinstatement of lost artwork within their chapel, focusing on historical accuracy and honoring the original artist, Frank Duveneck.
The restoration process began with a study of the original work to determine the historic color palette. EverGreene’s artists used a fragment of the original wallpaper to hand-paint a replica in their studio. Using what was found in the fragment, historic images, and sketches by Duveneck, EverGreene recreated the wall paper and frieze. This replica was then scanned and reproduced, allowing for the faithful restoration of the lower walls of the chapel.
