Cathedral Of Christ The Light

Oakland, CA

The Cathedral of Christ the Light is an inspiration both architecturally and religiously. The Cathedral diocese spans Oakland and the surrounding East Bay communities, providing support through community outreach and volunteer faith-based organizations. As the head designer on this project, the main focus of Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM) was to design around sustainability, natural elements of light, and modern design.

EverGreene was selected by the Construction Manager and Designer of the Cathedral. Our team designed and installed multiple Venetian plaster finishes on the interior walls of nine different chapels within the cathedral as part of a new construction project. Our Design Team worked closely with SOM Architects on creating a custom color palette to inspire transcendent beauty. We fabricated plaster mock-ups to determine the final appearance.
