Hartford Superior Courthouse—Private
This elegant Art Deco-style courthouse was designed by French architect Paul Cret in 1929, with local architects Smith & Bassette, chosen in a design competition. EverGreene provided comprehensive restoration services for original interior finishes, which were performed by our skilled staff of fine art conservators, architectural conservators, decorative painters, and restoration artisans.
Our scope of work included the conservation of fresco secco murals, consolidation of plaster substrate, and conservation and restoration of ornamental plasterwork including moldings. We reinstated the historic decorative painting scheme, refinished architectural woodwork, and refinished and polished the terrazzo floor. Additionally, we conserved the ornate Art Deco-style metal grills that were scratched and damaged by managing complex decoratively painted and glazed finishes in a variety of metal patina.
