Carnegie Library

Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY

The Syracuse University Carnegie Library was built in the Renaissance style in 1907 with a $150,000 donation from Andrew Carnegie. EverGreene restored 20 scagliola pilasters in the Reading Room at the Syracuse University Carnegie Library. Conservators removed and replaced deteriorated scagliola with like materials. The scagliola is made in the marrezo method to match the style and look. Prior to application of new scagliola, conservators cleaned all areas of loss, which were examined and opened to sound material to allow for flush joints. All cracks were examined for stability and consolidated.
