Whooping Crane Sculpture
National Academy of Sciences, Washington, DC
This artifact is a whooping crane sculpture that was the Conservationist of the Year Award presented to the National Academy of Sciences in 1983 by the National Wildlife Federation.
We performed solubility spot-tests on all materials to determine the most appropriate cleaning method. The object was surface cleaned and consolidated with minimal intervention by using the least aggressive means possible to achieve the most successful results.
The object was rehoused for safe storage, and care recommendations were made to the client to ensure the longevity of the conservation treatments and the object.
