Dale is an integral part of EverGreene. He ensures that all of our regional architectural artwork and ornamental plasterwork is transported in delicate hands from our Brooklyn studio to their respective destinations. Dale is easily recognizable by his warm smile and friendly approach interacting with employees, clients, and vendors. Let’s learn more about Dale’s treasured historic projects and how his love of design and art has built his career over the last three plus decades!
You have been part of the EverGreene team for many years. How long have you worked with the company? I have been with EverGreene for 34 years to be exact!
Approximately how many projects have you assisted the team with transporting ornamental plaster, murals, and artifacts across New York City and beyond?
Some of the projects that I have been involved with, oh my gosh, where do I start… Henri Bendel Department Store; New Amsterdam Theatre, Vermont State House Dome, Trenton War Memorial, New Jersey State House Dome, Colonial Theatre in Laconia, NH; a Mormon Temple; The White House; New York Public Library; Virginia State House, TSX Palace Theatre in Times Square; The Red House in Trinidad; Waldorf Astoria in Midtown Manhattan, and Harlem Hospital Murals…I can go on and on.
I have assisted our Conservation, Plasterwork, Decorative Painting and Finishes, and Mural studios in a variety of project-related tasks; ranging from purchasing to mobilizing and demobilizing. There are many projects I have transported over the years throughout all the boroughs of New York City, the Tri-State area, and New England – Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont- as well as the Metro D.C. area.
What are your favorite historic restoration projects?
“My favs” include Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, just blocks from my alma mater Erasmus Hall High School!!! Other favorites include the Palace of the Lost City (pictured); Loews Theater (on the Upper East Side); and the New Amsterdam Theatre.
Seeing it all come together from design to completion is awe-inspiring. Many of these projects require precision craftspeople and artists, paired with extremely special materials, tools and equipment to preserve. The vision, commitment, and passion that is required to reclaim, restore, and conserve the architectural beauty of these spaces and buildings is so impressive.
Dale comments, “EverGreene sticks to the motto ‘you don’t have to tear everything down,’ and I express kudos to the gatekeeper Mr. Jeff Greene. I’m blessed to be here to witness all the transformation of historic architectural arts for the future. I believe I’m all the better for it – in my daily planning, execution, communication, sticking to deadlines, completing tasks – as it carries over into my personal life.”
