Masonry Study At Former U.S. President Residence
Alexandria, VA
One of our Founding Father’s 18th century residence in Alexandria, VA experienced severe deterioration of the brick and render masonry in its basement. Our conservators were contracted to perform a survey, condition assessment and material testing to determine the root cause to the material decomposition and determine appropriate mitigating treatments for the preservation of the historic cellar.
The comprehensive study summarized the survey observations and material testing and analysis results, and provided specific guidance for a restoration plan. This project was completed under a non-disclosure agreement.
