The Portsmouth Music Hall
Portsmouth, NH
The Portsmouth Music Hall first opened in 1878 as a Vaudeville theater and is the oldest theater in New Hampshire.
As part of a multi-phase restoration, EverGreene conservators executed a preliminary finishes investigation. Once our craftsmen began to remove multiple layers of paint, the lost murals were discovered. We traced the patterns, developed the color palette to match the original designs, and devised an economical solution to restore the original scheme. Our artisans hand-painted portions of the Victorian quatrefoils and other designs of actual size in our New York studio, printed them digitally, installed the canvases, and applied hand-painted finishes and touch-ups.
