On Monday, March 29, Emily Sottile, Director of Sacred Spaces, led a virtual discussion as a guest lecturer for a class of interior design students about the importance of incorporating beauty into design. This Professional Practice course at Sacramento State, is taught by Architect Roy Cotterill of PWC Architects, with whom EverGreene has collaborated on various projects.
The built environment has an incredible impact on us psychologically, and we must advocate for it and let beauty draw us in. Emily delved into the classical definition of beauty and its three constituent parts as important design principles. She emphasized the necessity of designing from a place of abundance rather than scarcity to develop beautiful projects and called the class to recognize their responsibility to introduce beauty when they can.
