Fifth Avenue Theatre
At the palatial Oriental-style Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle (Sid Grauman, 1926), heavy complex plaster corbels cracked during an earthquake and were removed as a hazardous condition. EverGreene was selected to replace the corbels and repair cracks on the painted surface, and in doing so developed an innovative solution to replace these significant architectural elements that had failed. Our plaster shop devised a method to fabricate the corbels in the same configuration with a lightweight resin, and the new corbels were installed and polychromed to match the original metallic finish. EverGreene also repaired other cracks in the ceiling and walls, and performed touch-ups to the decorative painting in the auditorium and lobby.
